Congratulations Stars and Eagles!

Congratulations to the St. Louis Stars and the Newark Eagles, for winning their league division championships this week. Both teams will represent SCLL in the Little League Washington District 7 "Tournament of Champions" at Rainier Playfield this weekend. They will play the league champions from all the other leagues in District 7 in a single-elimination tourney.

On Tuesday, the Newark Eagles won a tight game 3-0, highlighted by several outstanding defensive plays and stellar pitching.  The Chicago American Giants put up a strong fight, but ultimately ran out of time against the stingy Eagles.

The St. Louis Stars survived an early loss in the double-elimination playoff to win the decisive "if necessary" game against a strong Birmingham Black Barons team.  All three minors teams played some outstanding baseball, with the Seattle Steelheads putting in a tremendous effort and missed advancing by the narrowest of margins. The Stars staged a rousing bottom-of-the-sixth rally to erase a four run deficit to win in a walk off 7-6.

Congratulations to all of our Minors and Majors teams for a fantastic showing in the playoffs.  The sportsmanship and character on display throughout the playoffs were outstanding!
